Welcome to Chronically Rue, a blog page where I have a desire to share my passions and experiences, as well as advocating a rare disease.

Hello.

Rué Sarsha, advocate of NMOSD.

What is NMOSD?

Neuromylitis Optica Spectrum Disorder is a rare auto-immune condition that affects 1 in 5 million patients. NMO can be misdiagnosed as MS (multiple sclerosis) by the way the condition is characterised by relapses (attacks) of the optic nerve and spinal cord, which causes vision problems and sight loss.

If you couldn’t already guess, I am one of those patients that has been severely affected by this condition. I was diagnosed with NMOSD at the age of 16 and with very little research being out there, I wanted to create a platform where I could spread awareness and show young people how I have managed to live with such difficulties especially within the society we live in.
